Wood privacy fences
Pine and cedar privacy fences, built on site in Springdale and across Northwest Arkansas.
Board-on-board, shadow box, spaced picket and horizontal, set on posts 24 to 36 inches deep and built to follow your ground.
Chapter 01
Where a wood fence fails first
Most wood fences do not fail at the boards. They fail at the ground: a post that rots at the soil line, a footing that shifts, or a run built from pre-fab panels that steps down a slope and leaves large gaps along the bottom. Sloped yards are common in Springdale, Rogers and Fayetteville, so those are the things we plan around before we talk about style.
Privacy Fence, Inc builds every wood fence custom on site instead of hanging pre-fab panels, so the boards follow the lay of the land from the first post to the last. Horizontal styles are harder to carry down a steep slope, and we will say so at the estimate rather than after the posts are set.

How we build it
Posts go 24 to 36 inches into the ground in wet-mixed concrete. Rails and posts are pressure-treated pine unless you ask for something else, and everything is fastened with hot-dipped galvanized nails, ring-shank or screw-shank, so the boards hold where they are nailed.
Where ground moisture is the worry, ask about PostMaster steel posts. They resist rot, shifting and long-term moisture, and the hidden design keeps the natural wood look from the street. We have set them under cedar in Fayetteville.
Gates in a wood fence hinge from 6x6 posts on three hinges, fastened with 4-inch screws, and a welded steel frame is available for wide drive openings.
Chapter 03
Pine or cedar, and the style that goes on top
Pressure-treated pine is durable and budget-friendly. Cedar, eastern or western, brings natural resistance to rot and insects and can be stained or left to weather on its own. We stock both kinds of cedar. One honest note on pine: the treatments that replaced CCA about twenty years ago stabilize the wood less, so some boards will move as they dry.
Board-on-board overlaps its pickets so there are no visible gaps. Shadow box, the good neighbor fence, looks finished from both sides. Spaced picket keeps the view. Horizontal runs, cap and trim, 3-rail and 4-rail frames, 8-foot heights and mixed materials are all on the list when the yard and the budget allow.
After the last board: what to ask for
Ask for the estimate in person. Terrain, access and whatever stands in the way of the line all change the cost, and we do not publish set prices. Once the job is awarded we pull the permit, check easements and setbacks, and call Arkansas 811 before anyone digs. Most residential fences are done in one to two days, and you do not have to be home as long as we have access and know where the gates go.
Every fence carries a one-year workmanship warranty, and the old fence is hauled off to a Class 4 construction landfill, never burned. New wood should be stained only once it reads 14% moisture or below. Staining is done by our family company, Local Stain of Northwest Arkansas, scheduled and billed separately, and Alan, who does our estimates, can include a stain estimate while he is quoting the fence.

“We have a pretty steep hill on one side of the house and they made it look amazing.”
That is the slope question from the first chapter, answered by a customer. Perry Crabb put the cedar version this way: “The fence was a cedar privacy fence and we couldn't be happier.”
